B. Observations on the book
1. God loves a great story!
2. God will frustrate the wicked and proud; He will exalt the humble
3. Though the hand of God is often hidden in human events, it is none the less active and real
a. This was comfort for God's people - He leads and guides through more than just telling us what to do; God is out in our world performing His word and doing great works in our midst
4. God's hand in history never rules out our actions - Esther still made her stand and was instrumental in God's plan
a. God's will is accomplished, and yet men are perfectly free agents; Haman did as he pleased, Ahasuerus did what he wanted, so did Mordecai and Esther. We see no interference, no coercion - they all do their will, and bear full responsibility, yet God works out His eternal plan for the ages through it all
b. God moves in human events - but mostly through people; in His great strategy for all the ages, He has called to be not only spectators, but participants also
